The government of Delhi launches the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, a very good step towards the empowerment of women. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will release the scheme on International Women’s Day, which is March 8, 2025. Through this program, women in the capital may avail of financial assistance.

Under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, ₹2500 monthly transfers will be made directly to women in their bank accounts. The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism provides transparency and acts quickly on behalf of beneficiaries. The scheme will support women with monthly incomes that are just subsistence and with increasing costs of living.

Mahila Samridhi Yojana Scheme Description

This scheme officially focuses on providing economic independence and empowerment to women. The monthly financial assistance of ₹2500 will be delivered through DBT, ensuring a safe and direct transfer.

Eligibility Criteria

For women to qualify under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, they must be residents of Delhi with a household income of less than ₹3 lakh per annum. A woman not engaged in government service is eligible for the scheme only if she does not receive any other government financial assistance. In other words, the age of beneficiaries will range from 18 years to 60 years. The government has worked with various departments to collate relevant data to identify eligible candidates with maximum accuracy.

Application Procedure

The Mahila Samridhi Yojana application process shall be online. An online portal has been created by the Delhi government for the registration of women. A software, being developed by the IT department, will assist in processing applications and ensure that only deserving beneficiaries are selected.

Information Dissemination and Initial Distribution

Information on the scheme and application process will be found by women on the official portal of the Delhi government. Funds will be distributed for the first time during the ceremony for announcing the scheme, possibly at Chattrisal Stadium.

Historical Background

The Mahila Samridhi scheme was born out of the election manifesto by BJP for the Delhi Assembly elections. The party had promised to pay ₹2500, monthly, for the welfare of women. After winning the elections, they are now in charge of implementing the scheme.
