So, Kia’s newly unveiled SUV rests on its legs, while its electric version, the Kia Syros EV, is on the verge of being launched. Rumor has it they aim for a price somewhere between 15 lakh to 20 lakh rupees. This pits it right against the Tata Nexon EV, a heavyweight in the Indian EV market. Kia hopes it will grab enough of a market share to justify a little competition. They seem to be trying to add a bit of kick to the Indian market.

Battery And Range

Now down to what is presumed to be lying under the car floor: some whispers have begun to circulate about two battery versions 42kWh and a 49kWh pack. If true, that may mean, according to WLTP, a range of 300km and 355km, respectively. And these values are, in fact, reasonable enough just to dun a city-scape and perhaps a few longer-distance runs. Supposedly in different states of readiness and polishing, the vehicle should be with us from January to March of 2026.

Syros Standard

Before we swing back to the electric part, let’s brief the regular 2025 Syros that are in the market. With prices ranging from rupees 9-17 lakh, the SUV is already with us. It basically offers two engine options: a 1-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. Diesel – I have around 20.75 kmpl for manual and 17.65 kmpl for automatic gears-R.E. figures. An important attribute for this Indian market.

The Fuel Efficiency Expected

The manual entries for diesel are aspiring for around 20.75 kmpl, while automatics should return 17.65 kmpl. Keep in mind these are manufacturers’ figures, and real-world mileage can only be ascertained based on driving style and road conditions. It is better for one to take those numbers with skepticism and see how it caters in their office work.

Conclusion

Kia is placing heavy bets on Electric future, with the Syros EV awaiting arrival. The Indian government nicely world up toward the ever-growing EV market; battery price-slashing is also making electric cars increasingly attractive. The Syros EV could come and change the entire game if only Kia fulfils the range promise and keeps up the pricing. An interesting time for EVs in India, and how the Syros EV does against the competition will be a thing to witness.
