The year 2025 began with a wave of price increases across various sectors, and the automotive industry was no exception. MG Motor India recently announced a price hike for its popular electric vehicle, the Comet EV. This move has understandably raised eyebrows among potential buyers.
Price Hike Across Variants
The price increase differs from variant to variant for the Comet EV. The Executive model has witnessed a relatively minor increase of Rs 1,000 to reach Rs 6,99,800 from Rs 6,98,800. This works out to 0.14% increase.The Ecite model has had a more sizeable increase at Rs 22,800, where it now retails at Rs 8,20,800 as against the earlier Rs 7,98,000. This represents a 2.86% increase. The Exclusive version has also received a price rise of Rs 26,000 and the prices have gone up to Rs 9,25,800 from the earlier quoted Rs 8,99,800. The price hike has been by 2.89%.
Key Features and Specifications
The price rise notwithstanding, MG Comet EV comes with an exciting package of features. The vehicle has a lithium-ion battery with 17.3 kWh. Its single charge mileage will be as good as 230 kilometers. Performance-wise, the Comet EV boasts 41.4 HP of power and 110 Nm of peak torque for spirited driving. It also features three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport to cater to diverse driving styles. It also boasts a user-friendly 10.25-inch infotainment system, keeping the driver and passenger entertained and connected.
Conclusion
Although the hike in price of MG Comet EV might be a bit of a letdown for prospective buyers, the vehicle is still an excellent contender in the burgeoning Indian electric vehicle market because of its impressive range, performance, and feature set.
