The future of commuting in cities has just got greener. TVS Motor Company, India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer, has taken a giant step toward sustainable transportation with the unveiling of the world’s first CNG-powered scooter. Still in concept phase, the TVS Jupiter CNG promises to revolutionize the way city dwellers travel, offering a compelling blend of affordability, eco-friendliness, and convenience.
Dual Fuel Efficiency
Unlike many CNG vehicles that solely operate on compressed natural gas, the TVS Jupiter CNG will offer flexibility of dual fuel operation. Thus, it would easily switch from petrol to CNG, and journeys will not get affected, while peace of mind for riders would be maintained as well. The dual fuel versatility is essential as the refilling stations of CNG are sparse at times.
Design and Features
The Jupiter CNG retains the now-familiar design of the popular petrol-powered Jupiter model, promising great comfort and an ease in riding experience. With an OBD2B-compliant engine, the scooter is reported to produce around 5.3bhp of power and 9.4Nm of torque. The scooter will come equipped with a 2-liter petrol tank and a 1.4 kg CNG tank, as the manufacturer claims a very impressive range of up to 226 kilometers on a full tank.
Fuel efficiency and environmental impact
The greatest benefit of the Jupiter CNG is its fantastic fuel efficiency. The company says that the scooter can deliver a remarkable mileage of up to 84 kilometers per kilogram of CNG. This means substantial savings for the rider, who can now save money on their daily commutes. Moreover, using CNG reduces emissions greatly, which is contributing to cleaner air and a healthy environment.
Features and Pricing
While still under development, the Jupiter CNG is expected to incorporate several user-friendly features, including a USB charging port for convenient smartphone charging on the go. Safety features like a stand-cut-off system are likely to be included, along with the potential for Bluetooth connectivity for enhanced rider experience.
Pricing for the TVS Jupiter CNG is yet speculative, however, if taking into consideration that present ex-showroom price of petrol-powered Jupiter starts at around Rs. 88,174, it may be expected that CNG variant will come as a competitor’s product and may arrive in the range of Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 99,000, ex-showroom.
Road Ahead
The TVS Jupiter CNG mark a major milestone in the evolution of two-wheeler technology in India. With CNG technology, TVS shows a promise of commitment towards sustainable transportation and meeting the ever-changing needs of urban commuters. Though the official launch timeline of the production model is not out yet, Jupiter CNG does promise to become a game-changer in the Indian two-wheeler market, promising to be a perfect alternative for eco-friendly and budget-conscious riders.
