The Tata Nexon EV has been at the top of the Indian electric vehicle market since inception. Recently, Tata Motors brought in the new Nexon EV that boasts a higher battery pack size, increased power output, and plenty of feature updates. Here is the real-world range of Nexon EV 45 to better understand what buyers can expect in this electric SUV.

Real World Range A Deeper Dive

The battery pack for Nexon EV is 45kWh, a well-sized upgrade from the previous 40.5kWh pack. Of course, where Tata claims an ARAI certification of 489km, reality can vary seriously from test bed conditions. In order to make things clear for readers, Autocarindia conducted significant range tests of the Nexon EV 45.

Cycle Testing C75 Cycle Testing

The tests were conducted using the C75 cycle, which better simulates actual usage conditions in daily driving. It is a mix of city and highway driving, simulating normal usage patterns. The results are promising: City Efficiency: The Nexon EV 45 showed an average city efficiency of 7.9km/kWh. Highway Efficiency: On highways, the efficiency dropped to 7.67km/kWh. Total Distance: Both in cities and on highways, the real-world range for the Nexon EV 45 set at full charge was around 350km. This is an enhancement compared to the 273km range set by the 40.5kWh version.

Eco Mode Range Maximizing

The tests were run in eco mode to optimize range. This mode would limit torque at about 70% of total output and further cap top speed while still consuming efficient amounts of energy. Regenerative braking was carefully applied, the level 2 in urban zones and level 1 (the least aggressive one) on highways.

Performance Improvement

Apart from the increased mileage, the Nexon EV 45 has multiple performance improvements as well: Higher Power: The more extensive battery pack means a slightly higher power, adding 5hp. Sunroof Panoramic: The panoramic sunroof is a luxury feature that brings the driving experience to a different level. Quicker Charging: The charging time from 10% to 80% now takes 48 minutes, reducing from 56 minutes for the 40.5kWh variant.

Conclusion

Tata Nexon EV 45 is one such product that the Indian electric vehicle market has desperately needed. More range, features, and a faster charging solution address most concerns related to the ownership of electric vehicles. Indeed, real-world range may be affected by factors such as conditions and driving habits, but on paper, this Nexon EV 45 will offer a major leap over the previous model. It gives far more confidence for daily commutes and longer distances.
