The West Bengal state government has brought great news for lakhs of government employees and pensioners. The Chief Minister has announced that under the Seventh Pay Commission, the Dearness Allowance (DA) for all government employees and pensioners will be increased from 53% to 55%. This change will be effective from January 1, 2025.
Who Will Get the Benefit?
It has been confirmed that employees of state government-run departments, civil and family pensioners, employees of local autonomous bodies, and aided educational institutions will receive the benefit of this DA hike. Additionally, employees of government universities and technical institutes in the state will also get this benefit.
How Will the DA Hike Help?
For the past few months, there had been ongoing discussions about increasing the dearness allowance (DA) of employees. Now, the state government has fulfilled this demand. A 2% DA hike will help improve the standard of living of employees and give them some relief from rising prices. This financial support will also motivate employees to take more responsibility in their government duties.
