India vs Australia: Jasprit Bumrah made history by taking his 200th wicket, finishing with figures of 4/56. However, Australia managed to increase their lead to 333 runs, ending Day 4 of the 4th Test at 228/9. After tea, they resumed at 135/6 and quickly lost Marnus Labuschagne, who scored 70. Despite this, they fought hard until the end of the third session to keep India from closing in. Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, contributed an important 41 runs, and the last pair of Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland added an impressive 55 runs without losing their wicket.
Australia’s Resilient Batting Performance
Australia ended the day on 228/9 in 82 overs with Nathan Lyon (41) and Scott Boland (10) still at the crease. They have taken the upper hand in the contest and are 333 runs ahead. While Labuschagne was batting on the fourth day, India’s senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah took a cheeky remark on him. Australia’s star batter Labuschagne had his luck on his side and went on to play an all-important knock of 70 runs on the back of just three boundaries. Bumrah made a quick remark on Labuschange during the final few balls of his innings, calling him the luckiest cricketer on the planet.
Marnus Labuschagne’s LBW Escape
Earlier, Marnus dodged an LBW call when the ball hit his pads. Umpire Michael Gough ruled it not out, but the visitors decided to use the DRS, which indicated the ball would have clipped the top of the leg stump, confirming the on-field decision.
In the 56th over on Day 4, Marnus was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in a way similar to his earlier escape. He was struck on the pads while trying to defend a delivery from Siraj, and this time, umpire Gough ruled him out. Marnus quickly opted for a review, but the DRS confirmed that the ball would have hit the stumps, so the original decision stood.
Cummins and Lower-Order Fightback
Cummins was the second-highest scorer for Australia, contributing 41 runs before becoming the ninth wicket to fall. Marnus and Cummins formed a solid partnership, adding 57 runs for the seventh wicket. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj claimed three. Ravindra Jadeja also picked up one wicket.
