But now, the West Bengal government is going to help make those dreams come true. Yes, the West Bengal government, along with some other organisations, has launched some great scholarship schemes. These scholarships not only provide financial help but also secure the future of the students.
Today, we will talk about five such scholarships, which are available only after passing the Higher Secondary examination.
1. Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (SVMCM Scholarship)
Most people are familiar with this scholarship. It is a great opportunity for meritorious students in West Bengal. The state government provides this scholarship, offering a substantial stipend to undergraduate students. However, applicants must be residents of West Bengal.
To apply, students must score at least 60% in the Higher Secondary examination. Additionally, their family income should be less than Rs 2.5 lakh annually, and they should not be receiving any other government scholarship. The financial assistance ranges from Rs 12,000 to Rs 96,000 every year.
2. Navanna Scholarship
For students who are unable to meet the 60% mark requirement for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship but still face financial difficulties, there is an alternative – the Navanna Scholarship. This scholarship is provided by the Chief Minister’s office for deserving students in need.
To apply, students must be residents of West Bengal and must have scored more than 50% but less than 60% in the Higher Secondary examination. The family’s annual income should not exceed Rs 1.2 lakh. This scholarship offers Rs 10,000 annually.
3. Oasis Scholarship
The Oasis Scholarship is a wonderful initiative by the West Bengal government for students from the SC/ST/OBC categories. Only permanent residents of West Bengal belonging to these categories can apply. Additionally, applicants must take admission in a government course after Higher Secondary.
The financial assistance provided varies according to the course but is aimed at helping students from underprivileged backgrounds.
4. Aikyashree Scholarship
The Aikyashree Scholarship is a great option for students from minority communities. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Score at least 50% marks in the Higher Secondary examination
- Belong to a minority community
- Have an annual family income of up to Rs 2 lakh
- This scholarship provides financial assistance ranging from Rs 2,250 to Rs 33,000 every year, depending on eligibility.
5. Kind Scholarship
The Kind Scholarship is a national-level scholarship that is also available to students from West Bengal. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Score at least 60% marks in the Higher Secondary examination
- Have an annual family income between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 6 lakh
- This scholarship provides a stipend of Rs 6,000 every year.
Higher education is key to building a bright future, but financial constraints often hold students back. The West Bengal government has launched these scholarships to ensure that lack of money does not stop students from achieving their dreams.
