“‘Mother’ – this one word captures all the love, emotions, and sacrifice. She is the one who guides us from childhood. Yes, she is our first teacher, our first friend, and our protector. Yesterday, we celebrated that special day for mothers – Mother’s Day. However, some government schemes for mothers can bring a new light of hope into their lives. Yes, you read that right. Let’s take a look at the details of these schemes.”
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PM Matru Vandana Yojana)
The Prime Minister launched this scheme in January 2017. It provides maternal nutrition and health protection for newborn children. If a woman’s first child is born, she receives cash assistance of Rs 5000. If the second child is a girl, the assistance increases to Rs 6000. More than 3 crore women have benefited from this scheme. The application can be made online or offline.
PM Awas Yojana
This scheme helps rural women build houses in their own names. Under the scheme, women in plain areas receive Rs 1.20 lakh to build a house, while women in hilly areas are given Rs 1.30 lakh.

Ujjwala Yojana
Mothers have long been risking their health by cooking on smoky stoves. To address this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under this scheme, women are provided free LPG connections, along with 12 subsidised cylinders per year, each costing Rs 550.
PM Suman Yojana
This scheme covers everything for pregnant women, from timely checkups to operation expenses, injections, and nutritious food. It ensures the full responsibility of the mother and child, both before and after the birth.
Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PM Mudra Yojana)
For mothers who want to become self-reliant, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana offers an excellent opportunity. Women can avail loans ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakh, with special discounts for women. It’s a great scheme for those who want to start their own business.
Swarnima Yojana
The central government launched the Swarnima Yojana for women from backward classes who want to start their own business. Under this scheme, women can get loans of up to Rs 2 lakh, with a low-interest rate of 5%, which is much lower than commercial loans. It’s a great option for women with a business mindset.
