Toyota continued to be strong in the Indian automobile market in December 2024. The Innova, as usual, spearheaded the campaign, and the month saw this model, along with Hycross and Crysta, recording a scorching 24% year-on-year sales growth, garnering 9,700 new homes across the country. It thus became the most sought-after Toyota model in India.

Following closely behind, the Toyota Hyrider secured the second spot with 4,770 units sold, although a slight 4% year-on-year decline was observed. The popular Toyota Glanza, a rebadged Maruti Baleno, ranked third, with 3,487 units sold, reflecting a 15% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, a strong contender in the compact SUV segment, achieved sales of 2,628 units.

Features

The legendary Toyota Fortuner, being a favorite of SUV enthusiasts, saw a deeper fall with 29% and 2,206 units. However, Toyota Rumion put up a bright show, gaining 113% year-on-year sales with 1,775 units.

The Toyota Hilux, one of the sturdy pickup trucks from Toyota, suffered a tough month, with the sales dropping down by 47% to only 170 units. The other big premium car sold was that of the Toyota Camry, selling 88 units with a reduction of 51% year over year.

Toyota Glanza Versatile Range

The Toyota Glanza is one of the popular hatchbacks available in the market. It boasts a perfect mix of practicality and performance. It is equipped with a 1.2-liter petrol engine, which promises a smooth ride and refined driving. The engine has a power of 90 hp and 113 Nm of torque, thereby ensuring adequate power for city drive and highway cruising.

The Glanza is also available in a CNG version for those looking for higher fuel efficiency. It offers outstanding mileage with a figure of 22.9 kmpl on petrol and a great 30.61 kmpl on CNG. It will surely appeal to budget-conscious buyers who wish to save more on fuel costs.

Conclusion

While some segments have caused Toyota to lose its grip somewhat, the Japanese auto major is still going very strong in India. The continued popularity of the Innova and the increasing interest in models such as the Rumion are ample evidence of Toyota’s ability to provide for a large section of consumers. As the Indian automotive sector continues to move forward, it will be through innovation, quality, and a focus on customers that Toyota can continue to achieve success.
