Want to buy the stylish and feature-packed Hyundai Exter? You may need to look at your budget again. The South Korean automaker has announced a price hike for its popular compact SUV, effective from the start of the new year. While some variants remain unaffected, others have seen a price increase ranging from a modest Rs. 1,200 to a more significant Rs. 7,500.

What does it mean for your wallet

The price increase has been implemented across the entire Exter range, with the entry-level EX variant now starting at Rs. 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-of-the-line SX (O) Dual Tone Night Connect has seen the steepest increase and is now priced at Rs. 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

A Feature-Rich Compact SUV

Despite the price increase, Hyundai still presents a good package for buyers. Equipped with so many features, it has had the inclusion of a sunroof, an 8-inch Infotainment system coupled with connected car technology, semi-digital display in the driver’s seat, cruise control, wireless phone charger, LED lights, alloys, and leatherette seats.

In terms of comfort and safety features, it comes loaded with plenty, including an auto AC, push-start/stop button, cooled glove box, LED DRLs, and a dashcam with two cameras. To keep passengers safe, the sedan is provided with six airbags as standard equipment, ESC, TPMS, ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera, rain-sensing wipers, and ISOFIX child-seat anchorage.

Powertrain Options and Fuel Efficiency

The Hyundai Exter is offered with two powertrains: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.2-liter petrol-CNG option. The petrol variant claims a mileage of 19.4 km/liter, while the CNG variant offers a fuel efficiency of up to 27.1 km/kg.

Facing Stiff Competition

The Hyundai Exter competes fiercely in the Indian market with rivals like the Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, and Renault Kiger, as well as sub-4-meter crossovers such as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Color Options to Suit Every Style

The Hyundai Exter comes in 8 monotone and 4 dual-tone colors to cater to the preferences of various individuals. It has colors such as Ranger Khaki, Starry Night, Fiery Red, and Cosmic Blue. Some stylish dual-tone colors are Ranger Khaki with an Abyss Black Roof and Cosmic Blue with an Abyss Black Roof.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Exter is still a great contender in the compact SUV segment, with its stylish design, feature-rich interior, and choice of efficient powertrains. While the recent price hike may affect affordability a bit, the overall value proposition of the Exter remains very appealing for those seeking a well-rounded and feature-packed compact SUV.
