Day by day, more and more people are using digital transactions. Yes, now payments can be made anytime, anywhere with just a few clicks. UPI has become a part of our daily life. To make this experience even better, some big changes will be made to the UPI service starting June 16, 2025.
Recently, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) issued two important guidelines to improve the UPI service. They said that some major steps are being taken to make the transaction experience faster and safer for users.
What Changes Are Coming in UPI?
According to the new rule, UPI transactions will now have a functional time. Previously, it took 30 seconds to confirm a transaction, but now we will receive a confirmation message in just 10 seconds, letting us know if the transaction was successful or failed. Additionally, if there is any mistake, the debit or credit reversal will be completed in 75% less time than before, the notification said.
What is Functional Time?
Functional time refers to the time between when you click to send money through UPI on your phone and the time you receive the message confirming whether the money was sent successfully or failed. The shorter this time, the faster and more accurate the experience will be.
Why is This Change Happening?
Recently, there were some network issues with the UPI service. Many customers complained that it took too long to confirm a transaction after sending money. NPCI has decided to take this big step after learning from that experience.
As a result, transactions will be completed much faster. If there is an incorrect transaction, it will be reversed quickly. Server outages will also be reduced, and reliability will increase.
New Guidelines for Banks
NPCI has informed all banks and UPI service providers across the country to update their systems to meet this new API time before June 16, 2025. Once this technology is implemented, it is expected that transaction confusion will be greatly reduced.
