Ingredients for Matar Paratha
For Stuffing:
- 1 cup green peas (boiled & mashed)
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
- ½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- ½ tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp dry mango powder (amchur)
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp fresh coriander leaves (finely chopped)
For Paratha Dough:
- 2 cups wheat flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp oil
- Water (as needed for kneading)
- Ghee or oil (for cooking parathas)
Step-by-Step Recipe to Make Matar Paratha
Step 1 Prepare the Dough
- In a mixing bowl, take 2 cups wheat flour, add ½ tsp salt and 1 tsp oil.
- Gradually add water and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
Step 2 Make the Matar Stuffing
- Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chillies, sauté for a few seconds.
- Now add boiled & mashed green peas and mix well.
- Add coriander powder, garam masala, amchur powder, and salt.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is dry and well combined.
- Turn off the heat, add chopped coriander leaves, and let the stuffing cool.
Step 3 Assemble the Paratha
- Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a small discc
- Place 2 tbsp of the matar stuffing in the center
- Carefully seal the edges and flatten the stuffed dough ball
- Roll it out gently into a medium-sized paratha, ensuring the stuffing does not come out.
Step 4 Cook the Paratha
- Heat a tawa (griddle) and place the rolled-out paratha on it
- Cook on medium flame for 1-2 minutes, then flip it.
- Apply ghee or oil and cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Repeat the process for all parathas.
