Litti Chokha is a traditional delicious dish eaten in Bihar Jharkhand. You can make it for lunch, dinner or on a holiday and you will love it. Litti looks like Baati, but there is a slight difference. The filling inside it is made from Sattu and this Litti is eaten with Brinjal Chokha (Bhurta) or Potato Chokha. Mix Veg Chokha and Tomato Chutney are also made along with it. So let’s start making Litti Chokha.
Ingredients for Litti
For kneading the dough
Wheat flour – 400 grams (4 cups)
Ajwain – half teaspoon
Ghee or oil – half cup
Baking soda – 1/3 teaspoon
Salt – 3/4 teaspoon
Ingredients for stuffing for making pitthi
Sattu – 200 grams (2 cups)
Ginger – 1 inch long piece
Green chillies – 2-4
Coriander leaves – half cup finely chopped
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Mustard oil – 2 teaspoons
Pickle masala – 2 tablespoons
Lemon – juice of 1 lemon
Black salt – half teaspoon
Salt – according to taste (1/4 teaspoon)

Traditionally, Chokha is made by adding only green chilies and salt, Chokha tastes even more delicious by adding tomatoes, ginger and coriander leaves.
Big brinjal – 400 grams (1 or 2 brinjals)
Tomatoes – 250 grams (4 medium sized tomatoes)
Green chillies – 2-4 (finely chopped)
Ginger – 1 1/2 inch long piece (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons (finely chopped)
Salt – according to taste (one teaspoon)
Mustard oil – 1-2 teaspoons
How to make Litti Chokha
Prepare the dough for litti
Sieve the flour and take it out in a vessel, add ghee, baking soda, carom seeds and salt to the flour and mix well, knead soft dough with the help of lukewarm water. Cover the kneaded dough and keep it covered for half an hour. The dough is ready to make litti.
Prepare the stuffing for Litti (How to make Stuffing for Litti)
Wash ginger, peel and chop it into small pieces (you can also grate it). Break the stalk of green chillies, wash and chop them finely. Clean the green coriander, wash and chop them finely. Take out the sattu in a vessel, mix chopped ginger, green chillies, coriander, lemon juice, salt, black salt, cumin seeds, mustard oil and pickle masala, if the stuffing seems dry then add 4-5 tablespoons of water, make the stuffing so wet that it can be tied into laddus, mix everything well, the stuffing of sattu is ready.
Litti (How to make Litti)
Make medium sized balls from the kneaded dough. With the help of fingers, enlarge the dough ball to a diameter of 2-3 inches, make it like a bowl, put 1 – 1 1/2 teaspoon stuffing on it and lift the dough from all sides and close it and make it round. , press the ball with the palm to flatten it a little, litti is ready to be baked.
Heat the tandoor, put the stuffed balls in the tandoor and fry them by turning them over and over until they turn brown. (Traditionally litti is baked on cow dung cakes)
Chokha How to make Chokha for Litti
Wash brinjal and tomato and fry them, cool them, peel them, put them in a bowl and mash them with a spoon, add chopped spices and salt, oil and mix well. Brinjal chokha is ready.
If you like garlic and onion then peel 5-6 garlic cloves and chop them finely and peel an onion and chop them finely. Add them to the brinjal.
Aloe Vera
Peel 4-5 boiled potatoes and chop them finely. Add chopped ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves, red chillies and salt. Aloe Chokha is ready.
serve
Put Chokha in a bowl. Dip the hot littis in melted ghee. You can also dip the littis in ghee by breaking them in the middle. Serve and eat with Chokha and coriander chutney.
