Big Bad News! BCCI may deal a big blow to Team India’s pacer Jasprit Bumrah before the 5-match Test series against England! Reports suggest that Bumrah may not be available for the India vs England Test series starting in June. According to multiple sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may even remove the Indian star from the Test squad for this series against England.

Will BCCI Remove Bumrah’s Position?

The India vs England Test series is set to begin on June 20. This series will mark the start of India’s campaign in the highly anticipated 2025-27 World Test Championship. Given the importance of this series, especially against England, the news surrounding Jasprit Bumrah is worrying.

Is Bumrah Set to Lose His Vice-Captaincy?

Sources suggest that the BCCI may remove Jasprit Bumrah from the vice-captaincy of the Indian Test team ahead of the series against England. But why? Investigations reveal that the board may not want to risk Bumrah, who has only just recovered from an injury, in such an important series. Considering his physical fitness, the BCCI may choose not to include Bumrah in the 5-match England tour.

Bumrah’s Leadership Role in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Bumrah was given a major responsibility in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where he was made vice-captain. He even captained the only match India won during that tour when Rohit Sharma suddenly stepped down. Bumrah has held the vice-captain role since then, but it’s believed that the BCCI may now remove him from this position for the England series.

Is the BCCI Looking for a New Vice-Captain?

Bumrah suffered an injury towards the end of the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia and returned after a long break and rehabilitation. According to a source within the BCCI, the board wants to reduce Bumrah’s workload in the upcoming series. It’s understood that Bumrah won’t be playing in all 5 matches, leading the board to search for an alternative vice-captain.

A board official, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “We are looking for someone who can serve as vice-captain throughout all 5 matches against England. Bumrah won’t play in the series, so there’s no question of keeping him as vice-captain.” The official added, “If Bumrah remains vice-captain, we would need a different person to fill the role for each match, which would create unnecessary complications for the board.”
