India’s star batsman, Virat Kohli, has recently retired from Test cricket, bidding farewell to the country’s jersey in this format after winning the T20 World Cup. So far, it is reported that he will continue to play for India in One-Day Cricket. There’s also the IPL. King Kohli is considered one of the best batsmen in the world across all three formats. However, many are curious about how much he earns from international cricket. Given his talent, the income of a batsman like him is certainly quite high. Now that Virat will play in only one format for the country, the question remains: How much can King Kohli earn?

How Much Can Virat Kohli Earn Before the 2027 World Cup?

India’s next ODI series is scheduled for August, when India will face Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series. It is expected that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play together again in ODIs from this series onward. The 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup is also on the horizon, and it’s anticipated that Virat Kohli will continue to play until then. Kohli is one of the richest cricketers in India, earning significantly more than other players through brand endorsements, board contracts, and more.

How Much Can Virat Kohli Earn in ODIS?

Team India has nine ODI series lined up before the next ODI World Cup, totalling 27 matches. If the schedule stays the same, the Indian team’s ODI campaign will begin in August against Bangladesh. The final ODI series before the World Cup will be in December 2026.

The total amount Kohli can earn will depend on how many matches he plays. Currently, Indian cricketers earn a match fee of ₹6 lakh per ODI match. If Virat Kohli plays in all 27 matches across the nine series, he can earn a maximum of ₹1.62 crore in match fees alone.

Additional Earnings from Performance

Apart from the match fee, Kohli’s earnings could rise if he performs exceptionally well and wins awards such as the ‘Man of the Match’ or ‘Man of the Series’. These awards come with additional monetary rewards, which could further boost his income.
