IND vs AUS 4th Test: Nitish Kumar Reddy scored an amazing first Test century, and Washington Sundar contributed with a strong fifty, helping India reach 358/9 on Day 3 of the fourth Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday. Nitish played exceptionally well, finishing with an unbeaten score of 102, but the innings faced interruptions due to bad weather. The match was called off early because of rain, leaving India at 358/9, still trailing Australia’s first-innings score of 474 by 116 runs.

A Vital Partnership Changes the Game

IND vs AUS 4th Test

At the crucial movement in the game, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar teamed up to score 127 runs for the eighth wicket, which was crucial in cutting down India’s deficit. This partnership was vital for India as they bounced back from a tough spot after Australia had set a high total of 474 runs in Melbourne.

India Narrowly Avoids Follow-On

Thanks to their efforts, India not only avoided following on but also got closer to Australia’s score after starting the day 310 runs behind, with their top five batsmen already out. Australia’s lower batsman is always in a good position against India. Nitish was in a great position to score his century, especially with Washington Sundar backing him up. However, everything changed when Sundar got out, and Jasprit Bumrah went out for a duck, leaving Reddy to face Mohammed Siraj, who was at the other end with just 2 runs not out.

Reddy’s Century and Siraj’s Defense

Siraj showed impressive defensive skills as he faced some nerve-wracking deliveries from the Australian captain Pat Cummins, who took three wickets for 86 runs. Seizing the moment, Nitish hit a boundary in the next over, marking his first Test century and helping to close the gap for India. Earlier in the day, India began at 164 for five, but Rishabh Pant (28) lost his wicket at a critical moment, and Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed lbw for 17. Today India survives but what will happen on the next day it is very exciting to see also how much Nitish Reddy adds a score to the scorecard. Let’s hope for the best for India tomorrow.
