Monsoon Forecast- Heavy Rains Set to Lash 12 States, IMD Issues Alert for Next 4 Days

Monsoon Forecast: Rain has been pounding various regions of the country, while searing heat is bugging others. Scorching sun in Delhi has kept people indoors. Heavy rains are predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in various states over the next five days. Thunderstorms with lightning and wind gusts are also predicted in some areas of South and Central India.

States to get Heavy Showers

According to IMD’s update, extensive rain is expected in the states of Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Strong winds will accompany the rain, and the situation will prevail for the next five days. Residents in these regions have been warned to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms.

Northeast is also in IMD’s view. In the next five days, the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience heavy rain. Thunderstorms are also predicted in most places. Weather alert in Arunachal Pradesh persists until May 18, where heavy rainfall is predicted in various areas.

South and Central India Get Ready for Wet Spell

Rain activity is also likely to intensify in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. IMD says these states are in for three to four days of rain. The rains could come with thunder and lightning. Weather disturbances will continue in the southern peninsular and contiguous central parts of India during this time.

Eastern and central India are in for a prolonged period of uncertain weather. The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts of thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Vidarbha. The rain can also be coupled with winds gusting at 30 to 50 kilometres an hour in various places.

Thunderstorms and Winds Expected in Eastern States

Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim will also be impacted by this weather system. Thunderstorms and 50-kilometre-per-hour winds are forecast by the IMD. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are most likely to experience heavy rainfall and storming during the coming days. Warnings have been issued, and close monitoring is being conducted by the authorities.
