The Lucknow Super Giants team is out of the IPL 2025 playoff race. Now, their challenge is to finish the league as well as possible. The team, led by Rishabh Pant, still has two matches left to play, including one against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

For Gujarat, this match is a chance to keep their momentum going, as they have already qualified for the playoffs. Gujarat will try to finish the league stage in first place to get two chances to reach the final. Currently, they are at the top with 18 points, having won nine matches and lost three out of 12. They will not take the match against Lucknow lightly.

Will Lucknow Give Chances to New Players?

Lucknow is out of the playoff race. Now, the question is whether they will give chances to players who have not played this season or have played very few matches in their last two games. Lucknow will not leave out Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, so both are expected to open the innings.

Nicholas Pooran has been out of form recently, so he might be rested, and Aryan Juyal could get a chance in his place.

Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad have been playing continuously. So, one of them might be rested to give a chance to Himmat Singh. Rajvardhan Hangargekar may replace Shardul Thakur. Digvesh Rathi will miss the match because he is banned. Shahbaz Ahmed could come into the playing XI instead.

What Will Be Gujarat’s Playing XI?

Gujarat is in great form and is a strong title contender this season. A big reason is the batting of captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan, and Jos Buttler. All three are expected to play against Lucknow.

Since Buttler will miss the playoffs, Kusal Mendis has been included as his backup. Gujarat has two matches left and may give some bench players a chance.

Kusal Mendis might play against Lucknow to get practice before important games. Sherfane Rutherford could get some rest. Otherwise, Gujarat is unlikely to change its playing XI.
