Monsoon Mayhem: nbn The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a fresh alert regarding the changing weather patterns across the country. While many regions, including Delhi-NCR, are currently battling severe heat waves, the next 24 hours may bring significant relief. A monsoon alert has been issued for eight states, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. IMD predicts drastic weather changes from May 23 to 26, signalling relief from the intense summer heat.
Thunderstorms and Rain Likely in Delhi-NCR
Delhi and its surrounding regions, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurgaon, are expected to see thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in the coming days. The IMD has issued an alert for the region, indicating potential rainfall activity that may help reduce the current heat wave. The shift in weather could bring down temperatures temporarily, though humidity may increase afterward.
Uttar Pradesh to Face Thunder and Rain Warnings
Weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh are likely to change significantly between May 23 and May 26. The IMD has predicted rainfall with thunder in several districts including Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Barabanki, Varanasi, Chandauli, Ballia, and Ghazipur. Heavy rainfall is expected in Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Mathura, and Aligarh. Meanwhile, Agra, Firozabad, Hathras, Etah, Etawah, Mainpuri, and Rampur are under a heavy rain warning. This rainfall is expected to bring some comfort from the extreme heat currently gripping the state.
Maharashtra, Punjab, and Haryana Set to Receive Rainfall
Maharashtra, including Mumbai and surrounding areas, has already seen intermittent rain in the past few days. The IMD warns of more heavy showers in the coming days. Similarly, Punjab and Haryana are likely to witness thunderstorms and rainfall shortly. These weather developments may bring down temperatures but also raise concerns over sudden weather shifts.
Southern States on Alert: Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana Brace for Rain
The IMD has issued alerts for several states in South India. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Maharashtra. In Karnataka, Kerala, and Puducherry, similar conditions are likely to persist over the next few days. These areas may see consistent rainfall activity, impacting daily life and possibly disrupting transport and other services. Bihar is also on the list with warnings of potential rain across multiple districts.
Heat Wave to Continue in Rajasthan Despite Nationwide Rain
Unlike the other affected states, Rajasthan will continue to experience high temperatures. No significant rainfall has been forecasted for the state. Bikaner and Jodhpur, in particular, are expected to remain under the influence of a strong heat wave with no immediate relief in sight.
